Anatomy with a touch of Vintage

His name is Christopher Elsasser and he runs his Etsy shop under the name munstre (pronounced Mun-stir). Most of his work is inspired by anatomy which, if you've ever visited my own Etsy shop, you'd know I've got a slight obsession with :)

Since starting in February 2008, Chris has already been featured in a couple gallery's, shops and even Juxtapoz Magazine.

You can also keep an eye out for his art in the upcoming Bruce Willis flick entitled "The Surrogates" ... I'd say hes doing very well for himself.

Hooray for Face Paint!

I've been on the hunt and I will admit that its difficult to find the right shade of eye shadow for the right price. I like em bright and able to withstand a late night of whatever-ness. If your like me then it looks like there's hope for us lot.

While creeping in the forums I heard nothing but good things about coffincolor, so naturally I took a peek... The verdict? I'm very impressed with their price, shades and sense of humor! They have a range of colours with names like "Trailer Park Blue", "MMM... Brains!!" and "Gold Toof". Also as an added bonus they've included some very gorgeous, suicide girl-like ladies sporting their product.

If your a BUST Magazine reader be sure to pick up the current copy to see a feature on this lovely Etsy seller.

Creeptacular Findings

These next pieces of digital art were created by artist and Etsy member Denise Lecusay. Although they are not sold off Etsy, they most defiantly deserve a spot on this blog for their creative darkness. I hope you love them as much as I do.

This first one is probably my favorite with its eerie yet subtle extra limb:

These two take a close second. Note the ribcage corset created by Etsy seller louiseblack.

The colours are so rich in this last one. The classic red and black tiles mixed with the red really make this piece pop!

Calling All Torontonians!

There are many talented artists/crafters in this city and although the weird ones get their own show in the gladstone, not all of them can afford it. This year Ms. Creepy Christine decided to change that and introduced a brand new fair called "Bazaar of the Bizarre".

"featuring artists, clothing designers, publishers, craft-folk and other independent makers of all things exotic and macabre"

I'm very excited about this one!!

A Big Thank You

I've been away for a while. First it was because I needed to find a place to live come October and then it was a lack of an internet connection at my new digs. No internet was tough cookies... but thankfully I'm back now. I just wanted to thank the loyal droppers, commenter's and anyone else who has been popping in while I was away.

Thanks guys :)

Shes in My Head

As soon as I saw this photograph I knew I had to include it in this blog! It looks like a picture straight from one of my dreams.

I dream a lot (its been my experience that many artsy people do) and I remember them on a regular basis. I have places I return to and this above photo looks like both the secret room in my apartment and the abandoned building I always get stuck in. And then of course there's this fish print... One of the more unfortunate scenes from my sleepy conquests.

If you like these prints as much as I do then don't forget to take a peek at marinkel's Etsy shop. She has more along the same lines, all ridiculously brilliant.

Shes Clearly Smarter

So dollfacedesign, why have I not heard of your shop before today?! Your style has such a vintage feel to it, your subjects are somewhat creepy but also whimsical and this girl has a brain for hair!

Where have you been hiding??

I never know what to search to find shops like this but embarrassingly enough it looks like Layla is using the same tags I have been for my anatomy items, hehe

Always the last place you'd think to look...

Cupcakes that Bite Back

I don't know about most of you out there but when I was younger I loved the movie Casper and Hocus Pocus. Now it just doesn't feel like Halloween without them. I'm too old for Casper, I do realize this, but it was on my TV the other day... so I watched it. Hocus Pocus still has a place in my Halloween but Casper? well its not so great when your 22.

I made these Halloween themed cupcakes for Etsy. A Frankencake on the left and a Ghostly Vanilla on the right. Ok, I just made up those names right now and they're horrible but if I list them I'll try harder :)

really I will!!

Rare Gems

Maybe you've seen these delicate beauties around Etsy before. They come from the mind of a self proclaimed flea market junkie and are sold in her MaidOfClay Etsy shop.

All these pieces are hand sculpted from porcelain clay with much attention to detail. Some give off creepy vibes while others are just plain fun. Such clever design.

Its Coming...

Fall is quick approaching which means All Hallows Eve is soon around the corner. Are you decking your porches this year?

pumpkinhollow's Etsy shop offers quite the selection of creepy goods to help you decorate this time around. The creator is Pumpkinrot and he has been quoted as saying:

"When my age restricted me from collecting candy on Halloween night (in any socially respectable manner), I decided to do something about it."

You can just feel his passion for his craft right there. Oh how I wish I knew someone as immature as me to go trick-or-treating with...

That Fifties Love

This is just one of the beautifully styled bathings suits in bettieb's shop. She clearly loves this retro style and I have to say I'm also quite the fan. You can expect to see another post mentioning this suit as its inspired a dress design that I'm currently working on completing. soooo in love with it.

The designer, Nikki B, claims to use very high quality fabric imported from Italy and only makes limited quantities of her swimwear. So if you see something you like now, pick it up! and then tell me all about it :)

Interesting-ness

Check out the style of these next few pieces. Could you even have guessed that they were all made from wood? Very unique items if you ask me and there's many more where that came from!

The name is porkchopshow and with all the sales he's seen you've most likely already come across his shop a time or two. Thats right I did say he and it wasn't even a typo this time! Anyways, I only rarely browse for supplies so this one is completely new to me.

Another one for the steampunk genre

This new featured seller has a knack for creating dark fantasy-like items. ettadiem makes all sorts of pieces from prints to purses to crafts all with the same beautifully dark themes.

Shes also a member of the Etsy Dark Side Street Team :)

Snack Holders

So today I went into someprettythings Etsy shop on a mission to choose one clutch to feature. Seriously,I only wanted one! I'm usually very particular about these things but it was such a challenge that I decided to nix that idea and choose my top three. And here they are :)

This girl certainly has a knack for mixing the right patterns into the most desirable clutches!

...Is it knix or nix?
